When the Boat Comes In is a British television period drama produced by the BBC between 8 January 1976 and 21 April 1981. Taking place between 1919 to 1937, Jack Ford is a First World War veteran who returns to his poverty-stricken (fictional) town of Gallowshield in the North East of England. It dramatises the interwar political struggles of the 1920s and 1930s, and explores the impact of national and international politics upon Ford and those around him.
A land fit for heroes and idiots
Say hello... say tirra
Fish in woolly jumpers
Swords and pick handles
Coal comfort
Empire day on the slag heap
A first time for everything
Paddy boyle's discharge
Angel on horseback
King for a day
Happy new year, some say
Heads you win, tails i lose
Kind-hearted rat with a lifebelt
Ask for tuppence, take a penny
Tram ride to the bluebell
A pillowful of buttercups
Roubles for the promised land
Some bulbs to keep the garden bright
God & love & wellesley street
Whatever made you think the war was over
Ladies, women, sweethearts & wives
After the bonfire
A wreath with our names on
The way it was in murmansk
In the front line you get shot at
The simple pleasures of the rich
A house divided
A tiger, a lamb and a basket of fruit
My bonnie lass, goodbye
A ticket to care for the wounded
Travel light, travel far
Requiem for a loser
Debts owed, debts paid
The empire builders
Look up & see the sky
Letters from afar
The father of lies
Diamond cut diamond
A marriage & a massacre
High life & hunger
Please say goodbye before you go
Back to dear old blighty
A gift from heaven
A medal for the argentine
Flies & spiders
Oh, my charming billy boy
